Samsung Galaxy Note 7 review

Who gobbled up the Galaxy Note6?!

No one. Actually. Samsung wanted to make its Galaxy Note line in sync with the Galaxy S range. Hence, the Galaxy Note7.

Oh, alright. So what’s new with the Galaxy Note7?

A lot of things. But to be specific, we’ve got a dual-edge display like the Galaxy S7 edge. It is also the first Galaxy Note phone to be water- and dust-resistant and adheres to IP68 standard, which means dunk it in the water for up to 30 minutes (up to 1.5m) and the phone will still work. Cool, right?

Galaxy Note7 gets better with IP68 protection, an iris scanner and a better S Pen

But this sounds very much like the Galaxy S7 edge. What are the features that I won’t find It anywhere else?

That would be the S Pen. Samsung has improved the S Pen to make it more intuitive and responsive.

The tip is thinner and has double the pressure levels than the previous-generation Galaxy Note.

Moreover, the S Pen can now take notes even when the display is locked with AlwaysOn; magnifiy the screen or translate the text with the new Magnify and Translate feature. Galaxy Note7 is also the first smartphone to sport an iris scanner.

Do I really need an iris scanner?

Since patterns of our irises are complex, not the same even for an individual and don’t leave a physical trace like the fingerprint sensor. Samsung reckons it is the most secure way to lock/unlock the device and its contents.

What else does It have?

It’s powered by a 14nm Exynos processor and has the proven Dual Pixel camera that takes excellent shots in low as well as good lighting conditions. The phone also comes with HDR that adjusts the brightness level, color saturation and contrast.

Can I buy It now?

Of course. It’s on sale along and supports new accessories like the new Gear VR. Gear Fit2 and Gear IconX.
