The ASUS MX279H, a member of the “Designo” series, is very attractive with a striking design. In fact it is a pleasure writing this review on it.
Clad in an aluminum frame with an elegant base, this IPS monitor measures just 622.6 x 441.3 x 225.2mm, and weighs alsmost 5.2 kg’s, including the stand. A 2 cm wide strip runs at the bottom, this has an attractive silver coloured manufacturers logo stamped in the middle and touch sensitive controls on the right. All the ports are housed in the rear, including HDMI 1.4, VGA and 3.5mm ports. Bang & Olufsen stereo speakers (2x3W), are integrated inside the body, the sound is clear crisp and melodious. The stand is easy to install and can be adjusted for height, swivel and rotation as desired.
The panel is a 27in AH-IPS and has a 1920×1080 resolution with an aspect ratio of 16:9. The LED backlit monitor boasts of a static contrast ratio of 1000:1 (Dynamic contrast ratio of 80000000:1) and 178 degree viewing angle, with a maximum brightness of 250 candelas per square meter. The MX279H produces accurate colours and contrasts out of the box. The high brightness, contrast and natural colours make it a great choice for any kind of graphic applications. It is great for viewing videos and images too. We also found that the viewing angle is really great with the anti glare feature ensuring that the entire screen remains visible in all lighting conditions. Overall, the ASUS MX279H is an outstanding monitor with a stylish design and superior build quality. We were impressed with it’s accurate image, the colours are spot on with good contrast and great viewing angle.
