Garmin Vivomove Sport Review

Now you can head from the pool to the bar without looking out of place with the Vivomove Sport on your wrist.

Another issue and another fitness tracker for me to check out. I swear, you would think I’m actually on the right track to losing weight and converting into a healthier lifestyle after my last two stints with two different fitness trackers but sadly, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Well, I guess third time really is the charm with the Garmin Vivomove Sport. I’m beginning to see the connection between my editor picking me for fitness trackers and my adoration towards alcohol…

FIT FOR THE FASHIONISTA

When it comes to fitness trackers, there’s only so much you can do when it comes to its design. The Razer Nabu was perfectly suited for gamers, while the Garmin Fenix 3 HR matched well with your typical athlete.

The Vivomove Sport however suits just about anyone due to its classic and simple design. Fitted with a classic hour, minute and seconds hand, the Vivomove Sport give off the impression of a fancy dinner watch at first glance.

Aside from the black with silver finishing around the case, the silicone strap provides a comfortable fit on the wearer’s wrist.

Now you can head from the pool to the bar without looking out of place with the Vivomove Sport on your wrist.

The only subtle hints for the Vivomove Sport to be noticed as more than just a casual analogue watch is the two progress bars located on its face. The bar on the left records your step count while the bar on the right is for Garmin Move, which can be synced with the Garmin Connect smartphone app.

NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY

The Vivomove Sport is like every other fitness tracker out in the market right now; it tracks your steps and also your sleep pattern. The only considerable difference it offers to other trackers out there is its subtlety in the way it provides the information, which is through the Garmin Connect app. Simply connect the watch to your smartphone by holding down on the crown for three seconds and you are instantly connected.

The app provides you with a more detailed analysis on your fitness as well as your sleeping patterns. This way, you can now plan your workouts and sleep accordingly to get the most out of the watch.

Another nifty feature is the Garmin Move bar located on the face. When the bar is red, it means that you have been inactive for long periods of time (for me, it remained inactive throughout the course of the day).

Although it should provide the wearer with motivation to empty the bar, it just reassured my assumptions that I was a sloth in my previous life and I’m okay with that.

CHARGING NOT NEEDED

The Vivomove Sport is powered by a replaceable CR2025 coin cell battery, the same battery found in most analogue watches. It is capable of lasting up to a year before needing replacement so you never have to worry about taking off the watch to charge it. Replacing it is fairly easy; simply make your way to any watch shop available and they should be able to replace the battery at a relatively low price.
